#NoHeatChallenge Heatless Hairstyles Wash N Go ft My Sister

Hello everyone!

So you all know that I am a natural girl and that I am going through a year long no heat challenge for my hair.

But what you do not know is that my sisters are also natural girls, in fact, I learned a lot of what I know from them.

My oldest sister decided that she wanted to try a wash n go. Since her curl pattern is all mixed up she doesn't like doing wash n gos because she doesn't feel her curls are defined and they get frizzy.

So she went to the store and picked up a few products for us to try on her hair and if it worked out well she would continued to use them for her routine.

So these are the products that she got and we used on her hair:
I started off by washing her hair with the shampoo, only the roots of course. Then I applied the Suave conditioner to the ends of her hair to attract any leftover dirt and oil and rinsed it off.

Next, to deep condition, I applied the Neutrogena conditioner and we left it on for about 10 minutes before rinsing it out with cold water. This is just to give her hair some extra moisture since it was dry and straight when we started.

To apply the product to her hair we used the LOS method. LOS stand for Liqud or Leave-in, Oil, Sealant.

With her hair soaking wet (liquid) I applied the Cantu leave in conditioner (leave-in) to her hair in small sections and made sure every strand was coated.

Next I used the Proclaim oil (oil) and applied that on top of the leave in conditioner also in small sections. After all the sections were coated with oil we re-wet her hair so that it was soaked and then I applied the styling gel (sealant) in small sections.

After applying the gel this is how her hair looked before it was dry.

And this is how her hair looked fully dry and styled the next day

She had pictures with her family the next day and I think her hair held up really well!

She also did the same routine on her daughter, my niece Saje and this is her result.

Needles to say she really loved her hair which I am happy about!

Well guys that is it for this post!

What do you guys think, should my sister rock her wash n go on a regular basis? Let me know in the comments!

Be safe and I'll see you in my next post!

No Heat Challenge Heatless Hairstyles: Keeping Hair Out of Your Face

Hello everyone!

Since I'm in school and I do a lot of writing throughout the day I like to keep my hair from falling in my face all day, it just makes it easier for me to concentrate.

So I am going to show you guys a few of the hairstyles that I do on days when I am in need of keeping my hair out of my face.

The first is a really simple pompadour.

My hair tends to get really flat at the top so this hairstyle keeps my hair out of my face and gives me some volume.

Next is a flat twist.

For those of you who don't know how to flat twist its just like french braiding but you're twisting your hair. As you're twisting your hair just pick up chunks of hair and add them to the twist.

I like this one because it looks more interesting that just regular twist.

Next is the half up half down style.

So this is pretty self explanatory, you just split your hair in half (I actually prefer to do 1/3) and tie the top half up with an elastic.

However since I like my hair to have some volume I pull at the hair to loosen it and give it some volume.

The last style is what I like to the pull and pin.

You just take the hair that frames your face, and has a tendency to fall into your eyes, pull it back and pin it in place with bobby pins.

I like all of these styles and I pretty much rotate between them during the week.

That's it for this post!

Which of these hairstyles would you rock to school or work? Let me know in the comments!

Be safe and I'll see you in my next post!

No Heat Challenge Heatless Hairstyle: Twist Out

Hello everyone!

As you all know from my Hiatus post I am doing a year long no heat challenge.

Part of my challenge is that I am going to try a different heatless style every week. This will not only help expand my knowledge of different styles available to me during this challenge but also to keep me from getting bored with my hair thus causing me to straighten it.

This week I decided to try my first twist out!

In order to keep my edges in check I decided to make the front twists flat, sort of like french braiding but with twists.

I didn't want to use rubber bands so I just twirled the end of my hair around my finger to keep it from coming a loose as it dried.

After I had my entire head twisted I waited a few hours for my hair to dry.

To set this style all I used in my hair was water and my homemade leave in conditioner.

To give my hair some volume I just added a pompadour (:

Then when I went to sleep that night all I did was toss it into a side braid and in the morning I took it down. My twists were still intact and they had a little more fluff and volume!

Well that's the result and tutorial for my twist out!

Will you be trying this on your own hair? What do you think of the results?

Be safe and I'll see you in my next post!
