HEY CURLY GIRLS, LET'S TALK: Conditioners

Hello curly haired beauties!

Moisture is extremely important to maintain healthy hair especially if your hair is curly because the texture of curly hair causes it to be drier than other hair types.

Conditioner is one of the easiest ways to ad instant moisture to your hair so it is important that you are using the right one, or ones.

The biggest thing you want to look for when you are choosing a conditioner for your hair is the ingredients. There are certain ingredients that you should keep your hair away from such as silicones, sulfates and parabens.

A dead giveaway is the suffix -cone. Anything that ends in -cone is usually something you do not want in your hair because it can cause more dryness.

In this post I am going to show you a few of the conditioners that I have used over the years that work or have worked very well for me and my hair.

I have not tried many products from Tresemme, but the ones that I have tried I have liked a lot and this conditioner is no different. In addition to the great ingredients this conditioner is a fantastic prince at a little under $6.

These conditioners get a bad rap because you can pretty much find them in any store including the 99 cent store and a lot of people think that because they are so cheap that they don't work as well as the high end brands. Well those people are wrong. I love the Suave conditioners because of the price, the smell and the ingredients.

Next...

For those of you who read my blog regularly then you know about this conditioner already because I talk about it a lot. Organix is an amazing line and most of it's conditioners are perfect for curly hair because of the absence of harsh ingredients.

Finally...

This conditioner is a bit more controversial in my mind than the others. It is a great conditioner and I really like it but it has a few ingredients that I could live without. Herbal Essences's conditioners always have really great scents as well. And it just goes to show you that you have to try some things out to find what works for your hair and what doesn't.

The best advice that I can give anyone who is looking for a good conditioner is to try new things. Different brands have different strong points. So go out there and take some risks.

Hello beauties! I am back with another video and I am really excited about this one because it is another installment of my Holiday Hair Series!

So this hairstyle is going to be really simple but also really versatile and you will see that you can wear this style many ways.

Also this hairstyle is perfect for girls, or guys, with straight hair or girls, or guys, with curly hair (:

So let's get to the tutorial!

The first thing you want to do is make sure your hair is free of tangles because this will make the rope braid easier to create.

Next you want to take your hair and put it into a high ponytail. You want to make sure that it is secure because you do not want it to be falling down the whole time.

Next take you hair and split it into two equal sections. The more equal you make the sections the better this hairstyle will look.

Now take your two equal sections and twist them tightly around each other. You really want to make sure that you twist tightly because once you let it go it will unravel itself but the tighter you twist the more it will stay twisted once you let go.

Once you have twisted all the way down to the bottom of your hair just tie it off with an elastic band.

Now comes the tricky part, you want to let go of the twist. It is going to unravel but depending on how tight you twisted the strands they should still stay slightly wrapped around each other.

Now all you need to do is accessorize!

I love doing this hairstyle because it is so easy but it still looks chic (:

The best thing about this hairstyle is that you can style in different ways. Here I am going to show you two that I rock on a regular basis.

The Rope Braid Bun

This is really simple and easy to do. All you need is that same high rope braid we created earlier and a few bobby pins.

Depending on how big you want your bun just wrap your rope braid around into a high bun and secure it with bobby pins.

Next is the Side Rope Braid

All you need to do to create this style is change that high ponytail that we created earlier into a low side ponytail.

As you can see this hairstyle is extremely versatile and can be dressed up or down at your leisure (:

TAG TUESDAY: Blog Your Heart Out!

Happy Tuesday lovelies!

I have seen this tag on so many blogs so I decided to do it because I thought it would be really fun.

So here we go!

Who/what encouraged you to start blogging? 

Before I started my beauty blog I had already been blogging for a few years so I believe it was just my integration into the youtube beauty community. Watching the beauty gurus on youtube really inspired me to want to to learn more about makeup and blogging because it seemed like fun and a good way to meet people.

How did you choose what topics to blog about? 

Well it started out just me blogging about topics that I knew about so most of it was hair. But then after I had been doing it for a while and had gotten more comfortable with my makeup skills then I started doing more makeup tutorials. Now I just look around at my peers and see what kind of posts they do and try to recreate them to fit my blog. 

What is something most people don’t know about you? 

Most people don't know that I want to move to Spain to be a spanish broadcast journalist.

What three words describe your style? 

Casual, Sexy, Cool.

What do you love to do when you are not blogging? 

When I'm not blogging I still love to write creatively, meaning fiction. I write a lot of fantasy (:

MAKEUP MONDAY: Pink/Purple EOTD

Happy Monday everyone!

For this Makeup Monday post I am going to show you how to create this really elegant pink and purple eye shadow look.

Let's get started

First I am going to start by priming my eyes. The primer that I am using right now is by e.l.f.

Next I am going to take a white and apply it to half of my crease and into my tear ducts. This will make you eyes look brighter and more awake.

Then I am going to take my pink and apply it all over my lid right beneath the white and into my crease.

Now I am taking my deep purple color and I am going to apply that above the white and into my outer crease.

Now that I am finished with my eyeshadow I am going to take my liquid eyeliner and create a strong cat eye careful not to drag it into my inner corners but focus it on the outer half of my eye.

Finally to finish off the look I am going to take my mascara and apply about 50 million coats. (Not really but you get the idea.)

And this is the finished look.

BLOGGER BUDDIES SERIES: How To Create An Editorial Calendar

An editorial calendar is a schedule and/or list of posts, videos, tutorials or anything that, as a blogger, you want to put on your blog. It keeps you organized and on track which is critical when you are first starting and even after you gain a steady following.

There are many ways that you can do an editorial calendar but in this post I am going to show you haw I have chosen to do mine.

I use Google calendar because I can customize it to my liking and there a lot of different options that make staying organized easy for me.

So let's get started.

First you need to make a Google account if you do not already have one.

It is free to sign up to Google and once you do you have access to all of the services that it provides such as, e-mail, Google docs and YouTube.

Next you need to set up your calendar

When you search for Google calendar it will take you here. All you need to do now is create your calendar, meaning you give it a name.

Once you have your name you can give your calendar a color which comes in handy when you start creating multiple calendars.

Once you have your editorial calendar set up like I have, there are a few things that you must decide:

• How often do you want to post
• What kind of posts do you want to do

Ideally I post 6 times a week. My posts are recurring so it is easy for me to schedule.

This is how a week in my calendar looks.

I create the posts that I want to do has recurring events so that way all I have to do is go in and edit the event according to the post I want to do that week.

And it is that simple.

I do that for all of the posts I do for my blog. I include favorites in series posts on Thursdays and I always review products on Fridays, that way there's uniformity.
